Ms. Perez has illuminated so many unconstitutional laws and Federal agencies that it is easy to comprehend why our Country is in need of rescue. I also found myself disillusioned for being a passive bystander but felt redeemed by the new found knowledge and understanding of what I need to/should stand up for in the future. Thank you.
Great read with lots of facts and no fluff. It's obvious the author spent a lot of time researching this.
Twitter had been recommending the author as someone to follow for some time. For whatever reason, I never did it.
Recently, maybe from a tweet of hers retweeted by one of my followers, I found myself visiting her profile. Much to my surprise, I learned she had written a book about the Constitution. I immediately followed and got the free sample.
After reviewing the free sample and participating in a few extensive, lively, Twitter conversations to which the author was an active party, I got the whole book.
Having studied the Constitution for 26 years myself, I was pleased to pick up a few things from the book that I had failed to become aware of in all that time. I feel that over 95% of all non-legal professionals could benefit from reading this book. (Concerning legal professionals, at least 99.44% of them would benefit!)
In Robert Pirsig's book "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance", Pirsig makes the following assessment (gist wise) of Romans and Greeks. Give a Roman person and a Greek person a car. All the Roman wants to know is how to drive it. (Just the facts please!) Of course, the Greek wants to know how to drive it, too. But the Greek also wants to know what's under the hood.
This book makes innumerable true statements about the Constitution. Only a few of these statements give any indication about what clause or clauses in the Constitution make the statement true. If the book has a failing (and I'm not saying it fails, at all), this is it. But, for many readers, such detail is only a burden. And for such readers, this book is an excellent choice.
So if you're more like one of Pirsig's Greek persons, this won't be the only book on the Constitution you want to read. But you can still benefit from reading it.
But if you are more like one of Pirsig's Roman persons, this book is for you. Especially if you're like a Citizen of the Roman Empire who longed for the days when it was a Republic.
AM Perez points out many interesting facts about the clear meaning of the constitution that are never mentioned in the classroom but are right there in black and white.
Great book
I originally bought this in its eleitsonic form. Written in a way that is easy to understand, with recent and relevant events used as examples. Thank GOD for people like A.M.Perez who can take a subject like the US Constitution and put it in plainspeak.
Great read from. Great writer. I got it for my teenage son and he loved it. Picked it up after he read it.
This review is way overdue, and in the meantime the author has been harassed & banned from social media (where I met her) for her passionate defense of the Constitution. She knows her subject well, is passionate about it, and writes well. I wish every college graduate had read this book or one similar, plus one on the history of the Constitution, as so many seem clueless about the deceptively simple document which made our great nation possible. Without the Constitution, we are no longer America.
